Monumental Long Horn Steer
Size, 55”H x 64”L x 37”W, Weight approximately 200 Lb
The Texas Longhorn derives from cattle brought to the Americas by Spanish conquistadores from the time of the Second Voyage of Christopher Columbus until about 1512.
The horns are in some cases very long. In general, the horns of bulls are of moderate length, while those of steers may be much longer.
Coat color is extremely variable. In some 40% of the cattle it is some shade of red, often a light red; the only shade of red not seen is the deep color typical of the Hereford. Other colors include variations of black, blue, brown, cream, dun, grey, yellow or white, either with or without brindling, speckling or spotting. Speckled and solid-colored animals are in roughly equal proportion.
The Longhorns were cared for largely as curiosities, but the stock’s longevity, resistance to disease, and ability to thrive on marginal pastures resulted in a revival of the breed as beef stock and for their link to Texas history.
This bronze will last forever outdoors. It is made to stand up to the elements and will look great wherever you place it with little or no maintenance. This is an excellent quality bronze masterpiece for impressive display in home, office, outdoors or as gifts.
Our quality bronze sculpture can proudly be passed down from generation to generation. For over 40 years our bronzes are Foundry Direct which are handmade and cast in the traditional Lost Wax Casting Process like a 100 years ago.
Color Choices – The standard way we cast this sculpture is classic statuary green or brown for a traditional look. Both patinas are very nice and weather the same. Color selection is more a matter of preference.
